ADOC SETS RECORD IN 2025 FOR GRADUATING OFFICERS

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) will celebrate the graduation of its fourth Correctional Officer class of 2025, with 136 new officers completing training. With this graduating class, ADOC will have graduated 473 Correctional Officers in 2025, the highest number of officer graduates in a single calendar year in the agency’s history.
The graduation ceremony will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jefferson State Community College Performing Arts Center, located at 1850 Lay Dam Road in Clanton. The officers have successfully completed ten consecutive weeks of training to earn Alabama Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification and join the ranks of Alabama’s Correctional Officers.
Increased starting salaries, weekly hiring events, targeted recruiting initiatives, and strengthened workforce partnerships have driven this year’s historic progress. One such partnership, the ACTIVATE career-readiness program, accounts for 38 of the 136 graduates. ACTIVATE, a collaboration between ADOC and the Alabama Community College System, provides a no-cost pathway for individuals who may face physical or educational barriers to meet the requirements for a career as a Correctional Officer.
ADOC continues to actively recruit for both security and non-security positions statewide. To learn more about career opportunities with the Alabama Department of Corrections, visit www.join.doc.alabama.gov.
