Bob Horton came to the Alabama Department of Corrections in January 2015 after serving seven years as public information specialist for the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs. Before joining the ADVA, Mr. Horton served a 25-year career on active duty with the Alabama National Guard retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Mr. Horton’s military assignments include: Public Affairs Officer; Mobilization and Training Officer, Joint Force Headquarters, Alabama National Guard; Assistant Professor of Military Science, Auburn University; Commander, 131st Public Affairs Detachment; field artillery battalion personnel officer, firing battery executive officer and fire direction specialist. Mr. Horton is a graduate from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and holds a degree in Marketing from Troy University.
